God’s Dream: 6 Phases of Faith
I never thought being an adult was going to be so stressful and so expensive! I wish I could get a refund for it, but unfortunately, none of us can. Lately, I’ve been wondering what God’s plan for my life is and asking Him to lead me in the way that He wants me to go. I reached a point in life where I had no idea where I was going, who I should meet, or what step I should take next. God then led me to a devotional focusing on “God’s Dream for Your Life.” And as usual, His timing was perfect. This devotional focused on the 6 phases of faith.
The first phase is Dream. God has given us each a dream. Without a dream, we’re just existing. If you find yourselves lacking a dream or not so sure of your dream, I encourage you to seek God’s help. Ask Him and I guarantee you He will show you what your dream is. Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” (NIV).
The second phase is Decision. God will give you your dream/calling but the question is, are you surrendering to Him and saying “yes God?” This could be surrendering your life to Jesus, if you haven’t so already, to be able to accept all that God wants for you in your life. Often times we try to figure things out on our own thinking we can handle it, but the truth is, we are nothing without God. So surrender yourself and your dreams to what God’s dream is for you. “That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.” James 1:7-8 (NIV).
The third phase may be the one I find myself having the most trouble with: Delay. When we don’t see anything happening in our lives we get discouraged and tend to stray away from God. We then, find ourselves in a mess because, as mentioned above, we tried to do things on our own. DO NOT DETOUR. Stay with God the whole way through! “For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.” Habakkuk 2:3 (NIV).
Fourth phase: Difficulty. We all have trouble in our life, but the comfort in that is the fact that we have an all-knowing God that understands what we’re going through. He is always with you and will never forget you.
1 Peter 1:6-7(NIV)
6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
The fifth phase is Dead End. If you’re feeling like you’ve done everything you can and seem to be stuck with nowhere to turn, don’t worry because guess who has you in His hands? God. Don’t give up, God knows what He’s doing and He is about to deliver you in order to work towards that dream; which leads me to the last phase, Deliverance. In order for God to do this, you must trust Him wholeheartedly. Don’t lose faith, don’t give up, praise Jesus for everything He’s done for you and for his never-ending love, and lastly, believe in yourself because you are capable of accomplishing any desire God has put in your heart through Him.
